Bennington-Rutland Supervisory Union seeks a dedicated and experienced Speech-Language Pathologist to join our team! This professional is a vital member of the school’s educational support services team, responsible for delivering high quality, evidence-based services to students with communication delays and disorders that impact educational performance. Serving a diverse population of elementary-aged learners, the Speech-Language Pathologist addresses a wide range of needs including speech and sound production, expressive and receptive language, social/pragmatic communication, fluency and voice, ensuring students have the communication skills necessary to access curriculum, engage socially, and achieve their full potential.
In this role, the Speech-Language Pathologist conducts comprehensive assessments, screening, interprets evaluative data, and develops & implements individualized, legally compliant educational plans that align with each student’s academic and functional goals. The Speech-Language Pathologist provides direct therapeutic intervention as well as indirect services through consultation, classroom-based support, and collaboration with educators, related service providers, and families to promote skills across settings.
Working within a multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS), the Speech-Language Pathologist contributes to early identification, prevention, and intervention efforts, while also supporting students with identified disabilities under special education law. The position requires ongoing progress monitoring, data-driven decision making, and careful documentation in accordance with federal and state regulations.
The Speech-Language Pathologist collaborates closely with classroom and special education teachers, related service providers,, administrators, and families to create inclusive learning environments that foster communication access and student success. This role also includes participation in IEP teams, professional consultation, and advocacy for best practices in communication development within the school community.
The ideal candidate demonstrates strong clinical expertise, cultural responsiveness, a strong background in special education program development and demonstrates expertise in evidence-based instructional practices, trauma-informed practices, and inclusive service delivery models. Strong candidates will exhibit a student-centered approach, exceptional oral and written communication skills, and the ability to build and sustain meaningful relationships with students and families. A demonstrated commitment to equity, working collaboratively with all colleagues, and fostering a positive learning environment for all students is essential.
