The Medium Voltage Electrical Foreman is responsible for overseeing the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems on construction sites. This position ensures work is completed safely, on time, and in compliance with project specifications and codes. The Medium Voltage Electrical Foreman leads and mentors crews, coordinates daily field operations, and serves as the key liaison between field staff, project managers, and engineers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily job site activities to ensure project milestones, quality standards, and safety protocols are met
- Help guide and direct electrical crews, assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and providing on-the-job guidance to ensure productivity and adherence to project plans
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to interpret drawings, clarify scope, and communicate project requirements effectively to the field team
- Oversee the installation, modification, and repair of electrical systems in commercial, industrial, or construction settings
- Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical documents to ensure proper installation and code compliance
- Troubleshoot complex electrical issues and recommend effective solutions to minimize downtime and rework
- Maintain proper documentation of job progress, material usage, safety incidents, and inspections
- Mentor and train apprentices and junior electricians, helping them build technical skills and understand job site expectations
- Foster clear communication between field personnel, subcontractors, and office staff to align goals and resolve issues promptly
- Support workforce planning by identifying staffing needs and contributing to crew scheduling
- Pre-plan and identify the methods to eliminate hazards daily by work task.
- Execute skill in observing habits and hazards of others and bringing it to their attention.
- Uphold safety as the most important goal of our company. Support goal of achieving zero accidents.
- Promote and encourage open communication between field and office regarding all safety concerns, suggestions, improvements, and PPE needed.
- Obtain safety training as expected by all company personnel.
- Minimum 5 years' experience pulling, fire taping, terminating, and splicing of MV cables up to 35kV.
- Current MV terminating certificate preferred.
- Proof of current confined space training. Applicant must be willing to participate in MetroPower’s confined space training within six months of hire date.
- High School Diploma (or equivalent) required
- Technical degree in a relevant field preferred; (Equivalent combination of technical training and/or related experience can substitute)
- 3-5 years of electrical construction experience; in a supervisory capacity preferred
- Valid Driver’s License and insured personal transportation required
- Experience with different types of terminations including, but not limited to, Bol-t’s, load break elbows, dead break elbows, heat shrink, cold shrink, etc.
- Experience with switching of MV breakers up to 35kV , including racking out, locking out, and tagging out.
- Experience with testing equipment for medium voltages including, but not limited to, contactless voltage detectors (tic tracers), digital megohmmeters, hi-pot testers, and digital meters.
- Ability to read and interpret one line diagrams.
- Experience with up to 35kV gas switches, sectionalizer cabinets, starters, and switchgear.
- Experience with rescue procedures for confined spaces, including retrieval systems, gas detectors, and first aid.
- Positive safety attitude and personal integrity – both are non-negotiable
- Working knowledge of various construction disciplines, contract documents, cost control, scheduling, safety regulations, engineering drawings and other documents
- Analytical thought process to troubleshoot and resolve difficult problems
- Ability to effectively supervise and evaluate craft performance
- Capable of managing and leading electrical crews
- Travel to various construction sites is essential, exposing employee to outdoor elements, noise, and the need to stand and walk. Other requirements may include the ability to kneel, crawl, bend, climb ladders, reach and handle with fingers, and differentiate colors.
- Job requires working in all outdoor elements (rain, snow, heat, etc.)
- Perform work at various heights, up to 90’ from ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, and cat walks and be able to work in restricted areas
- Lift at least 50 pounds
- Constant moving on your feet
- Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers
