There is currently one (1) opening for the Power Line Specialist located at Gene Camp in Parker Dam.

What You’ll Do:
  • Uses advanced, journey-level skills, experience, and knowledge in large-scale high-voltage transmission and distribution power line work
  • Applies practices, procedures, and methods for maintenance and system improvement
  • Follows safety practices, regulations, rules, and policies related to powerline work
  • Supports infrastructure such as street lighting, microwave, and telecommunications systems for communication and control of water and electric power
  • Maintains, improves, and constructs overhead electrical transmission systems
  • Maintains, improves, and constructs underground electrical distribution systems
  • Works on systems connected to pump plants, hydroelectric plants, and treatment plants

Schedule: 4/10 - (Monday - Thursday 6:00am - 4:30pm).

Expectations of Hours of Service, Emergency and Stand-by Service:

Employees in this position may be required to work off-shift hours and/or stand-by service to address operational needs and emergencies as required. May be required to work extended periods away from the normal reporting location.

As a regular full-time employee at a remote Desert location, you would be eligible for Desert Branch Assignment Premium:
  • 5% for all employees assigned to Gene Camp or Intake.


This incentive pay will be applicable to the base pay for the normal work schedule. This incentive pay will not apply to overtime hours.



EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED in addition to 2 years journey-level experience in electrical hot line
maintenance.

Relevant/Related Experience is defined as: Experience working with electrical power lines over 600 volts at heights more that 50ft high from wood poles and Lattice Towers. Taking direction from complex schematic diagrams necessary to implement predictive, preventive, corrective and construction activities.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
Employees in this position may be required to obtain and maintain the following certifications, licenses,
and registrations:
• Valid Drivers license from state of residency equivalent to a California Class A, B, and/or C with
appropriate commercial license endorsements
• High Voltage Line-Work Certification
• Crane Certification
• MWD High-Voltage Switching Certification
