Located in Plymouth Meeting, PA, Hickory Veterinary and Specialty Hospital is a multi-service hospital offering general practice, specialty care, 24/7 emergency medicine, boarding, grooming, daycare, and rehabilitation. What You’ll Do

As an IP/ER Nursing Lead, you’ll serve as the on-shift leader for inpatient and emergency nursing teams. Your role is essential in ensuring smooth department flow, supporting patient care needs, and empowering your fellow nurses and assistants.

• Act as the primary point of contact for doctors, nurses, and assistants to coordinate inpatient and emergency cases
• Guide, mentor, and support nursing staff throughout your shif
• Redirect responsibilities as needed to keep departments efficient, especially during high caseloads or staffing gaps
• Serve as the contact for call-outs, tardiness, early departures, or late stays during your shif
• Promote a collaborative, respectful, and positive work environment
• Ensure emergencies are triaged efficiently and critical patients receive timely care
• Maintain general awareness of all inpatients to support communication and continuity
• Assist with procedures, diagnostics, treatments, and patient monitoring as needed
• Provide support to CSRs for inpatient-related questions and care coordination
  
  

Anticipated Schedule

This is a full-time position with the following schedule options:

• Sunday–Wednesday: 6:00 AM–5:00 PM or
• Sunday–Wednesday: 7:00 AM–6:00 PM
  
  

Compensation

Pay: TBD based on experience

Requirements

What We’re Looking For

• Previous veterinary technician/nursing experience required
• Emergency or inpatient experience strongly preferred
• Excellent communication, delegation, and leadership skills
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• A positive, collaborative attitude and a passion for supporting both patients and teammates
