About the Role
We’re hiring a Licensed Mental Health Professional (LMHP or LMHP-E) to provide in-person behavioral health services to youth residing in a juvenile detention center. This role includes assessment, short-term therapy, crisis intervention, and care coordination for adolescents facing mental health and substance use challenges.
Responsibilities
- Conduct mental health and substance use assessments
- Provide individual and group therapy using evidence-based approaches
- Deliver crisis intervention and treatment planning
- Collaborate with detention staff, families, and community providers
- Maintain accurate documentation and participate in case reviews
- Work Monday–Friday with one evening shift required weekly
Qualifications
Required:
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy, or related field (60-credit program)
- Eligible for Virginia licensure (LPC, LCSW, LMFT, LSATP, CPCNS, or equivalent)
- Must apply for clinical supervision within 30 days of hire if not yet licensed
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Preferred:
- Active Virginia license
- Experience with justice-involved youth or secure settings
- Familiarity with trauma-informed care, CBT, and co-occurring disorders
Skills
- Knowledge of behavior modification, CBT, and emergency interventions
- Experience with family, group, and individual therapy
- Understanding of the criminal justice system and community mental health resources
- Willingness to work flexible schedules and travel locally as needed
