Job Functions:
The Driver will retrieve in-kind donations throughout the Tampa Bay area and deliver them to Metropolitan Ministries. The Driver will at all times serve as an ambassador of Metropolitan Ministries to the donor community.
Essential Responsibilities:
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or GED completed is required. Must have at least two years of driving history. Three years of professional driving experience and at least one year of customer service experience is preferred. Must possess a valid permanent Florida Driver’s license and be able to operate a motor vehicle weighing up to 2.5 tons. Minimum of two years warehouse/inventory experience preferred. Able to operate a forklift as required and certification preferred.
Skills Requirements:
This position requires the ability to work within a multi-disciplinary framework; must be computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office. Must be willing to be cross-trained and utilized throughout the Operations department. Must be able to communicate effectively in English, orally as well as in writing. Must demonstrate a heart for the ministry of serving poor and homeless families. The position requires a degree of maturity, sensitivity to issues of faith, cross cultural and diversity issues, and the social skill to handle job-related matters in a professional and diplomatic manner. Requires strong managerial skills and the ability to supervise both individual and group volunteers. Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries with clients, staff, and volunteers.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to tolerate outdoor temperatures consistent with Florida climate and endure prolonged standing/walking/bending/stooping and stretching. Must be able to relocate materials in a safe and proper manner. Must be able to climb ladders and stairs regularly. Must be able to calculate mathematical equations as needed for inventory control. Must have adequate hearing and speaking ability as to take part in and provide sound oral communication and information. Must have the physical, emotional, and spiritual stamina to handle job-related issues and stress. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. or more.
Other:
Must demonstrate legal authorization to work in the United States and pass applicable pre-employment background screening procedures. Must be able to work flexible schedules during the holiday season (October-December) and special events throughout the year. Must be able to communicate effectively in English. Valid FL driver’s license with a good driving record and insured vehicle.

- Perform daily maintenance inspections on vehicles.
- Retrieve assignments for daily pickups.
- Pick up in-kind donations from various areas throughout the Hillsborough, Pasco, and Pinellas County areas.
- Build donor relationships and contacts through regular travel routes.
- Working knowledge of donations slip procedures and concepts in order to better serve donor relations.
- Review and maintain daily donations records.
- Demonstrate respect and reverence for our donors and their property.
- Meets personal goals and actively contributes to the achievement of team and organization targets/goals as measured by Key Performance Indicators.
- Other duties as assigned.
