What are the responsibilities and job description for the Parts Supervisor - Fleet position at Metropolitan Government of Nashville & Davidson County?
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Fleet Parts Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of our fleet parts department. The Parts Supervisor - Fleet position is responsible for supervising inventory control, procurement, vendor relations, and staff to ensure the timely and cost-effective supply of parts to support our fleet operations. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and capable of leading a team while maintaining high standards of accuracy and efficiency.
- Supervise daily operations of the fleet parts department, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and issuing parts and supplies.
- Monitor inventory levels and implement controls to reduce waste, loss, and overstock.
- Manage relationships with vendors to ensure competitive pricing, timely deliveries, and quality parts.
- Develop and maintain processes to support efficient parts distribution to mechanics and service teams.
- Supervise and oversee parts staff, including training, scheduling, and performance management.
- Track and analyze parts usage, costs, and trends to support budgeting and forecasting.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with planning and development of departmental goals, cost-saving initiatives, and process improvements.
- Keep accurate records and prepares detailed reports
High School Diploma or equivalent and six (6) years of experience receiving and distributing fleet, automotive, or equipment related inventory.

LICENSES REQUIRED: Valid Driver License

- Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in an Automotive Technology or related field
- Supervisory experience
- Strong knowledge of automotive and equipment parts, inventory systems, and vendor sourcing
- Strong communication skills and problem-solving abilities
- Proficient in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
