What are the responsibilities and job description for the IS Advisor 1 - Server Infrastructure Administration position at Metropolitan Government of Nashville & Davidson County?
- Responsible for the design, build, and support of departmental servers and storage area network (SAN) infrastructure.
- Responsible for the performance and overall health of server and SAN infrastructure systems.
- Responsible for daily maintenance and monitoring of VM server environments.
- Responsible for daily maintenance and monitoring of backup systems.
- Manages and upgrades tools and agents to support server/SAN infrastructure.
- Ensures that all components are at optimal operating level.
- Develops IT infrastructure purchase specifications.
- Installs and supports server operating systems.
- Responsible for the management and maintenance of all component hardware, software, and peripherals associated with the departments’ server/SAN infrastructure.
- Ensures the security of IT infrastructure.
- Manages access to principle of least required.
- Manages reporting, usage, and trend analysis for IT Infrastructure.
- Research new technologies and develop strategies for related annual planning and upcoming initiatives.
- Responsible for the planning, building and testing of business continuity and disaster recovery procedures.
- Researches and develops solutions to difficult issues and presents alternatives to management.
- Provides technical problem-solving support for other staff.
- Develop plans and manage tasks for projects related to new IT infrastructure implementations and upgrades.
- Assists with the testing and troubleshooting of custom developed and vendor applications.
- Develop system administration and user documentation.
- Participates as directed in projects and initiatives with Police IT and other components of the Police department.
- Review current business process and makes recommendations for process improvement.
- Responsible for installing and maintaining infrastructure equipment at multiple off site locations and for attending off site meetings, trainings, and conferences related to infrastructure administration and technology operations.
- May perform other professional and administrative functions as needed.
Five (5) years experience in data processing operations, applications, PC network support, or related areas.

- Experience of server and SAN Infrastructure implementation/support, systems administration and security best practices in a Data Center environment
- Experience evaluating current business processes and making recommendations for process improvement
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of Information Services, computer applications, programming, and testing requirements
- Experience installing and maintaining information technology systems and software
