What are the responsibilities and job description for the Building Maintenance Mechanic - HVAC position at Metropolitan Government of Nashville & Davidson County?
The Building Maintenance Mechanic - HVAC position is located with the Parks & Recreation Department and is responsible for installing and performing a wide variety of maintenance, repair and alteration work on a building’s various fixtures, electrical switches and systems related to heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and a variety of building and environmental controls. Some overtime and weekend work may be required.
Metro’s Parks and Recreation Department offers a variety of facilities and programs throughout Davidson County. Currently, the department oversees nearly 16,000 acres of open space, including 189 parks and 110 miles of greenway. Metro Parks offers after school programs for children, activities for seniors (55 ), cultural arts classes, dog parks, fitness classes, nature programs, sports leagues, ice hockey, art galleries, and much more. - Install, and/or make alterations as directed to HVAC, Environmental, and Mechanical systems, Some Lighting and Plumbing etc.
- Assist as directed in the repair and maintenance of various environmental and mechanical systems, such as but not limited to circulation pumps, motors, heat exchangers and compressors, within approved guidelines at all Park & Recreation facilities
- May perform preventative maintenance on HVAC, environmental, and mechanical systems, including but not limited to replacing and/or cleaning filters, cleaning and/or repairing vents and ducts, testing and/or replacing thermostats.
- Maintain current knowledge of codes, regulations, etc.
- Maintain simple work records and logs.
- Operate Aerial Lifts.
- Visit various sites to perform maintenance, preventative maintenance, transport materials as needed for job, etc.
High School Diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of skilled maintenance and/or repair work on electrical, environmental, or mechanical building systems.
OR
Eight (8) years facility maintenance experience in Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and successful completion of safety training.

LICENSES REQUIRED:
Valid Driver License
EPA Universal Certification (HVAC-R)

Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.
Experience and general knowledge of electrical and electronics to safely and efficiently install and repair these systems.
