We are now hiring for an Hourly Youth Coordinator to join our Blue Island-Robbins Neighborhood Network (BIRNN) team at our Blue Island office.
SALARY: The average starting hourly rate for this position will fall in the range of $20.00 to $22.00 hourly. Where candidates fall in this range will be based on skill and experience level.
Hours per Week: Up to 15 hours
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Assist in planning, organizing, and facilitating youth-focused events, workshops, and activities that align with BIRNN's mission.
- Build and maintain relationships with local schools, community groups, and youth organizations to foster collaboration.
- Coordinate outreach efforts to engage youth in volunteer opportunities, leadership development, and civic participation.
- Track participation and outcomes of youth programs and provide regular reports on progress and impact.
- Work closely with BIRNN staff and community partners to ensure the smooth execution of youth programs.
- Serve as a mentor and resource for young people, encouraging positive community involvement and personal growth.
- Attend and participate in community meetings and events as needed.
- Works effectively with diverse staff and service population.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
- Passion for working with youth and promoting community engagement.
- Highly organized, and able to manage multiple tasks.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals.
- Familiarity with the Blue Island and Robbins communities, preferred.
- Experience in youth programming, community outreach, or volunteer coordination, preferred.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Satisfactorily pass all relevant screening and criminal background checks.
TRANSPORTATION/TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
- Driving for work required with a personally owned vehicle.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is required to sit and stand for sustained periods of time, frequently talk, hear, use hands and fingers to feel, handle, and operate objects or controls, and occasionally stand, bend, stretch, stoop, kneel and crouch. The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, and viewing a computer terminal.
