We are now hiring for a full-time Child Care Cook 1 to join our Team at our DuPage office.

Salary
- The average starting hourly rate for this position will fall in the range of $16.60 and $17.00 hourly. Where candidates fall in this range will be based on skill and experience level.
- Prepares daily meals for 3–5-year-olds, using approved menus, making adjustments for children's special needs.
- Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen, foods, utensils, and equipment in accordance with health codes and industry standards.
- Handles stock and equipment, including storage and rotation, and operates institutional appliances.
- Follows accepted safety practices when using equipment and utensils.
- Maintains recordkeeping including production charts, temperature charts, and inventory.
- Assists with general food operations including cleanup, stocking, and inventory.
- Meets all requirements of the Child Care Food Program, city, state, and Head Start performance standards.
- Provides information and limited assistance to teaching staff for nutrition and cooking lessons.
- Participates in staff meetings and training sessions.
- Works effectively with diverse staff and service population.
- Gives direction to parent volunteers as assigned.
- Provides active supervision to ensure the safety of children while in the classroom, during transitions, and while on the playground. Ensures that no child shall be left alone or unsupervised.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Experience cooking for large groups.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and groups.
- Highschool diploma required.
- Food Sanitation Certificate required(can be obtained while employed at MFS)
- Satisfactorily pass all relevant screenings and criminal background checks.
- Driving not required. Travel between sites not required.
- While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is required to sit and stand for sustained periods of time, frequently talk, hear, use hands and fingers to feel, handle and operate objects or controls, and occasionally stand, bend, stretch, stoop, kneel and crouch. The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing and viewing a computer terminal. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
