What are the responsibilities and job description for the Authorizations Coordinator position at Metropolitan Dermatology?
Metropolitan Dermatology is seeking a highly organized, self-starter for our Authorizations Coordinator position full time. Strong understanding of working with insurance carriers for prior authorization, and insurance eligibility and verification of benefits.
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent, required
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare related field preferred.
- 3 years of provider relations, or contracting experience.
- Claims processing and/or managed care experience preferred.
- Dermatology experience preferred.
Role/Responsibilities:
Authorizations/Special Projects:
- Obtain and/or verify patient insurance benefit coverage by use of insurance websites, such as Navinet, or by contacting the insurance carriers prior to patient appointment. Clearly document details of the verification for service reference.
- Review documentation obtained by Front Desk Coordinator for appointments and surgical procedures for all patients of the practice
- Review scheduling system so verifications are accurate and completed prior to patient appointment to avoid billing and/or payment errors.
- Ensure that verification updates are input daily into the EMR system.
- Communicate with medical providers and other staff members about any patient concerns and/or issues related to verification
The ideal candidate will:
- Must exercise sound judgment and possess ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills is required.
- Computer proficiency including Microsoft EXCEL and WORD
- Ability to prioritize duties
- Have experience in eClinicalWorks
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
