The Metropolitan Council is the regional planning agency for the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area providing essential services to our region: transportation, wastewater treatment, growth and development of local communities, affordable housing programs, and regional park systems.
The Council’s Community Development Division is accepting applications for an Associate Qualitative Researcher or Qualitative Researcher. This one (1) vacancy will be filled based on the candidate's qualifications. This opportunity is a long-term temporary position to last up to two years. This position is benefits eligible; and is eligible for hybrid (remote and onsite) teleworking.
This position will work directly with planners, engagement specialists, and other researchers conducting focus groups, interviews, and other techniques to develop rigorous, people-centered insights to set the foundation for holistic, data-informed policy and plans that elevate the voices of people in the region, particularly people of color, youth, and other groups often left out of planning processes. This role will play a central role in projects to help local governments access community knowledge about social determinants of health in the built environment. Will take on primary responsibility for qualitative data management and guiding staff to understand the data through ongoing, iterative collaboration.
Minimum Requirements:
Any of the following combinations of completed education (in social sciences, planning, business, marketing or a related field) and experience (in focus groups, interviews, or other qualitative research, including collecting, analyzing, and disseminating qualitative data):
Associate Researcher:
- High school diploma/GED with five years of experience.
- Associate degree with three years of experience.
- Bachelor's or higher degree with one year of experience.
Salary Range: $73,570 - $119,413 annually
Researcher:
- High school diploma/GED with seven years of experience.
- Associate degree with five years of experience.
- Bachelor's degree with three years of experience.
- Master's degree with one year of experience.
Salary Range: $79,581 - $129,064 annually
