About MCC
Metropolitan Community College is the oldest public institution of higher learning in Kansas City, Missouri, founded in 1915 as the Kansas City Polytechnic Institute. The Junior College of Kansas City, as it was known starting in 1919, was one of the first schools in the country to award an associate degree. Today, MCC offers 125 associate degree and certificate programs.
Metropolitan Community College comprises five campuses (including MCC-Online) on the Missouri side of the Greater Kansas City area 47 major buildings and about 550 acres in all: MCC-Blue River, located in Independence, Missouri; MCC-Longview located in Lee's Summit, Missouri, MCC-Maple Woods located in the Northland of Kansas City, Missouri; and MCC-Penn Valley, located in Midtown Kansas City, Missouri.

Job Summary
Incumbents supervise the safety and security operations and personnel of an assigned shift or location to ensure the safety and security of all students, staff, faculty and visitors.
Essential Functions
- Supervise the activities of assigned staff; work may involve prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; identifying training needs and conducting trainings; implementing hiring, discipline, and termination procedures; and ensuring that all operations are performed in accordance with applicable laws, policies, and procedures
- Serve as a Commander on assigned shifts, and plan special operations and events; work may involve planning and preparing operations plans; ensuring adequate security coverage for activities and events; and preparing applicable documentation to ensure compliance with applicable laws, policies, and procedures
- Perform administrative duties to include reviewing, approving, and/or maintaining administrative, incident, and other reports; logs; and other documentation
- Coordinate and/or perform lower-level duties to include patrolling assigned areas; identifying violations; enforcing traffic, parking, and other applicable ordinances; responding to calls for service; and conducting investigations
- Coordinate with faculty, staff, community groups, external law enforcement agencies, and other internal and external personnel, departments, and/or agencies to maintain community relations and facilitate departmental operations
- Incumbent completes special investigations as assigned. Investigates vehicle accidents, completes required forms and reports and takes appropriate enforcement action
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Physical Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate degree (A.S., A.A.) or two-year technical certificate in Criminal Justice or related area*
- Three (3) years law enforcement experience

Licensing Requirements:
- Missouri POST Class A license
- United States Citizenship
- Possession of a valid driver’s license
- Minimum Education Qualification can be substituted with an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in law enforcement

- Skilled in providing effective mediation and conflict resolution

- Skilled in preparing and reviewing basic reports and documents from established information or by following a standard format
- Skilled in operating assigned tools and equipment
