MCNY enrolls approximately 1,000 students annually into its accelerated degree programs with convenient onsite and remote schedules for added flexibility.

Position Summary

The Department of Human Services at Metropolitan College of New York invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position to teach within the Core Curriculum, with emphasis on Biology (BIO), particularly the Social Determinants of Health, as well as Pedagogical Theory and Social Justice frameworks. The appointment will begin in Fall 2026.

We seek a dynamic educator-scholar committed to interdisciplinary teaching, and student success in a diverse urban college environment. The successful candidate will contribute to undergraduate instruction in biology (with a focus on health disparities and community health), educational theory, and social justice perspectives within human services education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate Core Curriculum courses in Biology, with emphasis on:
    • Social Determinants of Health
    • Health equity and structural inequality
    • Community and population health
  • Teach courses in Pedagogical Theory and Social Justice within the Human Services curriculum
  • Develop and deliver engaging, in-person instruction at the Bronx campus
  • Utilize the College’s learning management system, Moodle, to support instruction, assessment, and student engagement
  • Advise and mentor undergraduate students
  • Maintain an active research agenda aligned with interdisciplinary scholarship
  • Participate in departmental service, curriculum development, and college governance
Required Qualifications

  • Terminal degree (Ph.D., DSW, Ed.D., or equivalent) in Social Work, Psychology, Education, or closely related field
  • Demonstrated research background in undergraduate Biology or related life sciences
  • Expertise in Social Determinants of Health, health disparities, or health justice
  • Experience teaching at the undergraduate level
  • Commitment to social justice, equity, and inclusive pedagogy
  • Ability to teach in person in the Bronx, New York

Preferred Qualifications

  • Evidence of scholarly publications or funded research
  • Experience integrating biological sciences with human services or social science frameworks
  • Familiarity with community-based or experiential learning models
  • Experience using Moodle or similar learning management systems
  • Demonstrated success teaching diverse, first-generation, and adult learners
