Overview
We are urgently seeking a dedicated and energetic Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in New York State to serve as a Camp Nurse for our camp during the week of 8/9-15 (1 week only). The nurse will sleep at camp during the period of the camp.
This vital role involves providing comprehensive medical care in a dynamic camp environment, ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all campers and staff. Duties
- Conduct thorough physical examinations and initial health assessments for campers and staff upon arrival.
- Administer medications.
- following proper aseptic techniques and medical documentation standards.
- Manage acute and chronic health issues, including pain management, infectious disease care, and emergency response procedures aligned with Level I and Level II trauma center standards.
- Perform triage assessments to prioritize care needs efficiently while utilizing EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for accurate record-keeping.
- Provide wound care.
- Coordinate with healthcare providers for specialist consultations such as ophthalmology or cardiology when necessary.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and ensure confidentiality of all medical records and documentation.
Qualifications
- Valid New York State RN license with current registration in good standing.
- Demonstrated experience in urgent care, emergency medicine, or critical care environments such as ICU or trauma centers.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, or similar platforms.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
- Experience working with diverse populations including children, individuals with developmental disabilities, geriatrics, or those requiring memory or dementia care.
- Skilled in medication administration, IV insertion, phlebotomy, specimen collection/processing, and infection control protocols.
- Ability to respond swiftly to emergencies using basic life support (BLS) and advanced life support skills; familiarity with neonatal resuscitation procedures is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills for patient assessment, health coaching, discharge planning, and case management activities.
