MetroPlusHealth is seeking a Deputy Chief Information Officer (DCIO). This position will serve as a Senior IT manager and report directly to the CIO. The DCIO will work directly with all levels of IT staff.

This administrative and technical role is suited for a candidate with prior healthcare/health payer knowledge and experience. This individual needs to possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills, and be passionate about the wellbeing of our members, staff, and community. The successful candidate for this position will have to tackle muti-faceted problems requiring a creative mindset to find innovative solutions across the IT Department. They will also have to manage vendor relations, staffing, and the overall coordination of day-to-day operations as well as complex initiatives.

Our goal with the Deputy Chief Information Officer position is to improve the experience of our members, employees and coworkers, vendors, and neighbors throughout the City.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serves as Executive Director in the latter’s absence.
  • Participates in the planning, development and promulgation of programs, policies and procedures, and evaluative and monitoring techniques designed to implement the policies and achieve the goals established by the governing body and the President.
  • Supervises the implementation of programs and policies concerning health care setting operations and assists in coordinating activities between health care setting staff and Officers.
  • May direct a compliance program for the health care setting in meeting standards established by inspecting and accreditation agencies involving delivery of health care services.
  • Participates in the establishment of formal systems of financial procedures, qualifications for employment andretention of competent personnel, employee health programs and general administrative support services.
  • Assists in the development and monitoring activities of the annual budget.
  • Recommends purchase of supplies and equipment for the health care setting consistent with policies governing purchase procedures.
  • Recommends construction and alteration programs, including acquisition and replacement of health care setting equipment.
  • Schedules, and conducts and/or participates in regular inter-departmental and departmental meetings.
  • May designate hospital departmental representatives for medical staff and multi-disciplinary committees to facilitate effective communication lines within the health care setting.
  • Assists the Executive Director in maintaining cooperative relationships with the community, professional groups, external agencies and regulatory bodies.
  • Participates in the development, maintenance and implementation of a health care setting management reporting system that provides adequate and timely data for program planning and evaluation purposes.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with a specialization in Hospital Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, Hospital Health Care, Medical Administration or a related program, and six (6) years of full-time experience in high-level responsible business administration, administration, public administration or an equivalent area, or as an Assistant Hospital Administrator in a position of direct responsibility for total operations or major parts thereof in a hospital setting including substantial exposure in meeting community needs; or
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in disciplines, as listed in “1” above; and eight (8)years of high-level experience in areas as described in “1” above.
