Job Summary:
The Phlebotomist is responsible for performing blood draws and specimen collection accurately, efficiently, and with compassion. This role ensures proper patient identification, labeling, handling, and processing of all specimens in accordance with established protocols and quality standards. The Phlebotomist works collaboratively with clinical and laboratory staff to support patient care and maintain a safe, professional environment.
Essential Job Functions:
· Perform venipuncture, capillary puncture, and specimen collection following proper procedures and safety standards.
· Verify patient identification and accurately label all specimens.
· Prepare and process specimens for testing or transport to reference laboratories.
· Maintain accurate records and logs for specimen collection and test orders.
· Monitor phlebotomy supplies and ensure work areas are properly stocked and organized.
· Follow universal precautions and infection control policies to ensure patient and staff safety.
· Provide professional, courteous, and compassionate care to all patients.
· Participate in quality control, compliance, and training activities as required.
· Assist with general clinic or laboratory duties as assigned.

Work and Education Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent required
· Completion of an accredited phlebotomy program required.
· Experience: one year of phlebotomy preferred; new graduates may be considered.
· Certification: National or state phlebotomy certification preferred (ASCP, NHA, NCCT, etc)
