Application Specialist – Industrial Metrology (U.S.)
Location: Northville, MI
Travel: ~50% Domestic Travel, Occasionally International
Metronor is seeking a highly motivated Application Engineer to join our U.S.-based team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex technical problems, working directly with customers, and supporting advanced metrology systems across a wide range of industries. The position combines hands-on engineering, customer training, field support, and technical sales activities.
You will support customers and partners throughout the United States and the broader North American region.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site and virtual product demonstrations for prospective customers
- Deliver customer training on hardware, software, and metrology workflows
- Perform system installations, configurations, and acceptance testing at customer facilities
- Provide applications support, both remotely (phone, email, online) and on-site
- Support sales activities through application expertise and project scoping
- Represent Metronor at industry trade shows, conferences, and customer events
- Lead extended prove out sessions for measurement systems
Required Qualifications
- Strong entrepreneurial mindset and willingness to take ownership
- Ability to travel up to 50%
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong problem-solving abilities and comfort working independently and in teams

- Experience with 3D measurement technologies (laser trackers, photogrammetry, CMMs, optical systems, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)
- Hands-on knowledge of Metrology, CAD/CAM, GD&T, or CNC machining of complex parts
- Background in manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, energy, or heavy industry
- Creative, adaptable, and able to thrive in a fast-moving environment
- Interest in moving into a hybrid role focused on technical applications and commercial responsibilities
- Background in energy, automotive, tube & pipe, shipbuilding, Crash Test / Crash Worthiness or similar manufacturing environments
