ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS MAY INCLUDE:

• Operate in a 24x7x365 Network Operations Center; this includes shift work, 2nd and 3rd shift hours, and weekends.
• Constant monitoring of Network Management systems for alarms and performance metrics on the METRONET Service Provider Network. Watching for potential security threats on the network and taking appropriate actions.
• Report, document, and track all alarm events while maintaining a high level of accuracy and urgency.
• Logging and managing trouble tickets, assigning priorities, and updating ticket status with resolution details.
• Identifying and responding to network alerts, troubleshooting issues, and taking corrective actions to minimize downtime. Communicate Network Event alerts and updates to internal Metronet teams and executives.
• Analyzing network logs and system behavior to diagnose the root cause of network problems and implement solutions.
• Elevating and Escalating issues to higher-level support teams and management when necessary.
• Communicates daily with many departments within METRONET, other telecommunication providers and vendors to discuss and coordinate all network troubles/outages and projects.
• Perform contact center duties in a high-volume environment.
• Perform other duties assigned by NOC Management team.
  
  
  

JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, routing protocols) .
• Proficiency in network monitoring tools and ticketing systems .
• Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills .
• Ability to work under pressure and make quick decisions while multi-tasking.
• Effective communication skills to interact with technical and non-technical teams .
• Basic knowledge of Telecommunications best practices and principles.
• Must have a knowledge of the OSI model.
• Flexibility to work additional shifts where required.
• Experience with Nokia, and Adtran PON equipment.
• Experience with PON/GPON based services is desired.
• Good written/verbal communications skills and ability to deal effectively with other people.
• Possess the ability to take on new and demanding challenges.
• Demonstrate the ability to assume new levels of responsibility.
• Education: 2- or 4-year technical degree and/or equivalent training.
• Experience: Minimum of 1-3 years of experience pertaining to the telecommunications industry. Experience/training on voice and data communication networks and the individual elements within those networks, data/wireless communications principles.
