The Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPCA) provides counseling services to individuals, families, and groups under the supervision of a fully licensed professional. This role focuses on assessing client needs, developing treatment plans, and delivering therapeutic interventions to support mental and emotional well-being. All duties will be completed under the direction, guidance, and supervision of the Program Manager.

Travel
Positions that are “community-based,” in whole or part, require the incumbent to travel between various worksites within his/her workday/workweek. The incumbent is required to have reliable transportation that can facilitate this requirement. The incumbent is further required to meet the criteria for insurability by the Center’s risk management facilitator; and produce proof of minimal auto liability coverage when applicable. Failure to meet these terms may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment, contract or other status with Metrocare.
Current State of Texas Driver License or if you live in another state, must be currently licensed in that state. If licensed in another state, must obtain Texas Driver License within three (3) months of employment.
Liability insurance required if employee will operate personal vehicle on Center property or for Center business. Must be insurable by Center’s liability carrier if employee operates a Center vehicle or drives personal car on Center business. Must have an acceptable driving record.

- Conduct client assessments, including intake interviews and psychosocial evaluations, to identify needs and recommend treatment options.
- Develop, implement, and update individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clients and supervisors.
- Provide counseling services to individuals, families, or groups under the supervision of a fully licensed counselor.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in compliance with licensing regulations, organizational policies, and confidentiality standards.
- Coordinate with other professionals, community resources, and support systems to promote effective client care.
- Respond appropriately to crisis situations, ensuring client safety and following established protocols.
- Participate in regular supervision and ongoing professional development to enhance clinical skills and progress toward independent licensure.
- Demonstrate adherence to ethical standards and legal requirements governing counseling practices.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES, AND CERTIFICATIONS:
- Required: Master’s degree in counseling
- Required: Registered and able to practice as a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate.
- Preferred: 2 to 4 years’ experience (paid or volunteer) working with individuals with developmental disabilities
