Job Title: Clinical Director – Mental Health Services
Location: Saint Paul, Minnesota

Reports To: Executive Director (or Chief Clinical Officer)
Supervises: Licensed clinicians, clinical staff, Interns.
Job Summary
The Clinical Director will lead the clinical operations of our mental health services, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based care and effective supervision of the clinical team. This role blends strategic oversight, staff development, clinical supervision, program growth and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and clinical oversight for all mental health service lines (outpatient/inpatient/residential as applicable).
- Supervise and mentor licensed clinicians; provide case consultation and support for complex cases.
- Develop, implement and monitor clinical policies, procedures and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with state/federal regulations, licensing requirements, accreditation standards and payer contract obligations.
- Collaborate with leadership to establish and monitor program goals, performance metrics, budgets and resource allocation.
- Support recruitment, hiring, training, performance evaluation and professional development of clinical staff.
- Work to expand service offerings, improve access, integrate care with other departments/partners and respond to community needs.
- Maintain a small caseload of direct client services (if part of the role) to stay connected with frontline work (optional).
- Foster a positive, inclusive workplace culture that supports clinician well-being and retention.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree or higher in a behavioral health field and licensed as a clinician in Minnesota (e.g. LICSW, LMFT, LPC)
- Minimum 5-7 years of clinical experience in mental health services
- Deep knowledge of evidence-based treatment modalities, mental health regulations, provider credentialing and billing practices.
- Strong leadership, communication, strategic planning, and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and culturally competent care.
- Experience working in settings such as outpatient clinics, community mental health centers, residential or inpatient programs.
- Demonstrated success in program development, quality improvement, systems integration or business development.
- Experience with trauma-informed care, co-occurring disorders, and/or special populations (youth, families, justice involved, etc.).
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary commensurate with experience (range: e.g., $93,600 - $124,800) depending on scope, licensure).
