As we grow, we are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Accounting Specialist with AppFolio experience to join our team.
Job Summary
The Accounting Specialist is responsible for handling the financial operations of our managed properties. This includes managing rent payments, security deposits, trust account reconciliations, tenant ledgers, and monthly owner statements. The ideal candidate will have property management experience, strong accounting skills, and be confident using AppFolio software.
Responsibilities
- Enter and manage rent payments and security deposits in AppFolio
- Process and reconcile monthly trust accounts
- Maintain accurate tenant ledgers and resolve discrepancies
- Prepare and send monthly owner statements
- Clearly explain financial statements to property owners and tenants
- Process owner/vendor invoices and payments
- Ensure compliance with trust accounting rules and local/state regulations
- Generate financial reports as needed
- Collaborate with property managers and other team members
Qualifications
- 2 years of accounting experience in property management
- AppFolio experience required
- Strong understanding of trust accounting and property management workflows
- Familiar with handling security deposits in accordance with state laws
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to explain financials to non-accountants in a professional manner
- High school diploma or GED required; degree in Accounting or related field preferred
