Metro Plastics Technologies is an industry leader in custom plastic injection molding. With over 50 years in business, Metro Plastics has extensive plastic production capabilities, engineering expertise, and a dedicated on-site tool room and metrology lab supporting operations in a newly built state-of-the-art facility in Noblesville, IN.
PURPOSE: Establishes and optimizes molding process parameters to produce consistently high-quality injection molding. Will provide analytical skills for design problem resolution. The Process Engineer provides ongoing technical support to the production department as well as assistance to the quality engineering departments that are engaged in numerous aspects of injection molding.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct sampling trials, process setup, and optimization (new tool, repaired tool, revised tool, and alternative material).
- Produce sample process reports and coordinate results with Engineering Manager for confirmation with specifications, quotation, process instructions with standards met.
- Assist customer service, Manufacturing Scheduling, Engineering, and Quality Control with the introduction of production.
- Coordinate sampling trails, capability study and design-of-experiment trials with Engineering, Quality for dimensional optimization and consistency.
- Strive for continuous mold and processing system improvement.
- Analyze non-conformance reports to identify problems and implement appropriate improvement strategies.
- Instruct process and maintenance technicians in the configuration of molds, machines, and processes, as well as in troubleshooting.
- Create and revise data documents for technicians and set-up personnel.
- Assist the Production and/or Engineering departments with problem solving as needed.
- Assist the Engineering team in reviewing tool pre-Lim designs.
- Assist Engineering with new job mold and process specifications as well as quotations development.
- Assist project review meetings as required.
- Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
- H.S. Diploma or GED; technical or vocational school training in related field of study a plus.
- 1-2 years of or work experience, previous experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. Process Control knowledge.
- 3-5 years injection molding troubleshooting processes.
- Understanding of Blueprint, graph data.
- Preferred RJG Master Molder 1 comprehension.
- Resourcefulness: Ability to independently grasp, dissect, and drive problems to a solution when faced with incomplete information.
- Desire for Continuous Improvement: Intellectual curiosity and eagerness to drive continuous improvements in a dynamic work environment.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to deliver with a high degree of accuracy, coordination, and completeness.
- Problem Solving Skills: Ability to systematically solve problems including defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
- Demonstrated track record of initiative, leadership, and effectiveness along with hands on practical experience.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.

- Employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
