PURPOSE: Establishes and optimizes molding setup and operation to yield consistent, qualified injection molding production to standard. This position assists in overseeing the production activities of the shift in the manufacturing area, ensuring the desired quality and quantity of work is produced. This position is directly responsible for ensuring that all machines are running, all processes are in control, and everything is always running to standard.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, while developing their team members to solve their own work problems and improve the individual’s performance and productivity.
  • Responsible for machine start-ups.
  • Ensure machines and robots are running at optimum efficiency.
  • First response to all machine, robot, thermolater and secondary equipment alarms.
  • Troubleshoot machine, mold, and material problems.
  • Verifies with Production Manager that materials are required to meet production goals and all corresponding production paperwork on hand.
  • Works in conjunction with Operators, Process Engineer, and Quality Tech to interpret specifications, blueprints, and determine if parts produced meet those specifications.
  • Monitor production board and production priorities for organization of duties based on changes that occur on their shift as well as organize work for smooth operations.
  • Schedule the assignment of duties to assure the proper utilization of production personnel to maintain production schedules and production quality. Recommend adjustments to work procedures to meet production schedules as well as recommend measures to improve production methods and working conditions, equipment performance, and work team efficiency.
  • Performs necessary corrections and running adjustments to maintain maximum production and quality with minimal amounts of scrap.
  • Assists Process Engineer in the training of Setup and Material Handling personnel as well as ensures all processes, equipment, safety, and proper housekeeping of the area. Ensure that production quality and quantity standards are met.
  • Installing molds in presses and making all required connections, adjustments, and settings in accordance with established documentation.
  • Set up and use of all secondary equipment, such as sonic welders, conveyor belts, thermolators, drill presses, gate cutters and various other tools and equipment.
  • Maintains set-up documentation and maintains records of all machine adjustments during processing.
  • Works with a Process Engineer to correct difficult processing problems and pursues continuous improvement of mold and processing system. Consistently review nonconforming materials to adhere to acceptable scrap levels.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

  • H.S. Diploma or equivalent; technical/vocational school certification or degree in related field a plus.
  • Advanced training or certification in Engineering preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities with strong time management skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-starter and able to effectively work without close supervision.
  • Flexibility and ability to handle and manage change effectively and efficiently.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Work is performed in a manufacturing environment
  • Employee will stand or walk most of their work hours
  • Employee will routinely use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
