Metro Physical Therapy is looking for a per diem Personal Trainer to provide coverage at our locations throughout Nassau County. You would be responsible for carrying out various tasks, starting from assessing your clients’ physical condition and creating unique workout routines for them.
Location: Varies throughout our clinics in Nassau, including Garden City
Schedule: Varies - Per diem/1099 Independent Contractor
Pay Rate: $34/hr
Responsibilities
While performing the duties of this job, the staff member is frequently required to walk, stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The staff member can regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.

Responsibilities
- Evaluate clients’ fitness levels and health conditions. Identify clients that should consult with a professional therapist before exercising or need to start with therapy prior to exercising.
- Build individualized exercise programs and when appropriate in conjunction with the appropriate therapist.
- Explain exercises in detail and suggest alternatives if needed.
- Monitor progress of clients’ fitness levels.
- Explain safe and proper use of gym equipment.
- Lead both individual and group training sessions, exercise classes and aqua fitness classes.
- Research on new exercise techniques and trends.
- Promote the gym’s fitness options and therapy services.
- Perform CPR and administer first aid in case of emergencies.
- Inform clients about gym safety and hygiene guidelines.
- Build a positive and trusting relationship with customers.
- Advise customers on how to change nutritional and lifestyle habits as needed Maintains strictest confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.
- Maintains a working knowledge of Metro, rules and policies, and works to ensure the compliance with the stated parameters.
- Performs other duties and assignments as required.
- Previous experience as a personal trainer or relevant role.
- MUST HAVE a certification in personal training
- Must come with liability insurance
- Knowledge of various fitness programs, from basic exercises to more challenging training sessions.
- In-depth knowledge of various therapy services available, conditions it can help and benefits of therapy.
- Ability to guide and motivate clients.
- Available to work flexible hours.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Certificates in CPR and first aid.
- High School Diploma; a degree in Kinesiology or Sports Science is a plus.
