What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Billing Representative (In-Person) position at Metro Infectious Disease Consultants?
Innovative Ventures (affiliated with Metro Infectious Disease Consultants) is seeking a Full-Time Medical Billing Representative who would be responsible for performing all office and hospital billing, collection and associated tasks. Responsibilities assigned to individuals can and will change at any time at the discretion of management or the supervisor.
This role would be located in-person at the corporate location in Burr Ridge, IL.
Specific Duties (examples):
- Enter patient demographics from hospital face sheets and office patient registration forms.
- Call hospitals, offices, or patients for any information needed that was not provided on face sheet or patient registration form.
- Enter charges daily for patients seen by MIDC doctors in office or inpatient hospital setting.
- Track dollar amount of daily charges entered to balance billing department for daily close.
- Alphabetize all office super bills to be filed.
- All assigned billing tasks to be monitored and reported to supervisor.
- Print and mail all HCFA 1500 forms to insurance companies, look up primary explanation of benefits and attach to secondary insurance claim.
- Determine the correct diagnosis code per written diagnosis by doctor and write on billing for billing staff to enter.
- Post all money to assigned accounts through mail or electronic posting.
- Call insurance companies for status of payment on claims 30 - 120 plus days.
- Call patients with outstanding balances in attempt to set-up payment arrangements.
- Other duties and tasks as assigned.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
- Experience in medical billing practices required
- Experience in Microsoft Suite and Outlook Preferred
- Experience in CPR and/or CareTend preferred
- Proof of current vaccinations, including recommended boosters, commonly required for those working with immunocompromised patients, including measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, hepatitis A & B, influenza, and COVID-19.
