Job Summary:
Metro Garage Door is growing and looking to add a Garage Door Technician to our team! We're open to hiring candidates at various experience levels, from those just starting out in the trades to experienced garage door professionals.
You'll be part of a skilled, supportive team installing, servicing, and repairing residential and commercial overhead doors, operators, and related equipment. We provide hands-on training for new technicians and opportunities for continued growth and advancement.
Experience with commercial doors, automatic doors (AAADM), or current AAADM certification is a plus, but not required. We welcome candidates from a variety of mechanical backgrounds and are committed to helping the right individual build a long-term career.
Level 1 Technician – Entry Level ($24–$29/hour)
Perfect for individuals who are mechanically inclined and eager to learn a skilled trade. No garage door experience is required.
Responsibilities
- Assist experienced technicians with installations and service calls
- Learn proper use of tools, equipment, and materials
- Support job site preparation and cleanup
- Help organize warehouse inventory and load materials
- Learn troubleshooting techniques and assist with repairs
- Follow company safety procedures and quality standards
Level 2 Technician – Experienced ($30–$35/hour)
Ideal for candidates with approximately 2 years of garage door installation and/or service experience who can work independently with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
- Perform residential and commercial installations and service work independently
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and structural issues
- Communicate professionally with customers regarding repairs and recommendations
- Mentor and assist entry-level technicians when appropriate
- Maintain organized tools, company vehicles, and job documentation
- Coordinate with dispatch and warehouse staff to ensure efficient workflow
What We're Looking For
- Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
- Commitment to safety and quality workmanship
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record (must pass MVR and DOT physical)
- Ability to lift 50–150 pounds (with assistance when appropriate)
- Comfortable working indoors, outdoors, on ladders, and in varying weather conditions
- High school diploma or GED
Preferred Qualifications
The following experience is preferred, but not required:
- Commercial overhead door experience
- Automatic pedestrian door experience
- AAADM Certification
- IDEA Certifications
- Welding or low-voltage electrical experience
Schedule
- Full-time, Monday–Friday, Typical hours: 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
- Typical start time is 7:30 a.m. Most technicians finish around 4:30 p.m., though end times vary depending on workload, job location, and the season.
- Overtime opportunities are available based on business needs, particularly during peak seasons.
