Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, creating a positive first impression and providing excellent customer service.
- Schedule, confirm, and reschedule patient appointments using patient management software and electronic health records (EHR).
- Performs duties and responsibilities with excellence, enthusiasm, great service orientation demonstrating courteous behaviors and mannerisms. Demonstrates flexibility and readily assists other staff members. Maintains a safe and healthy work environment for patients, self, and others.
- Prepares examination and treatment rooms for use by physician by cleaning, stocking and arranging supplies, equipment and instruments. Prepares treatment rooms for special procedures using knowledge of sterile technique, as required. Cleans, packages and sterilizes reusable supplies and instruments, as needed, appropriately using germicide solution.
- Collect and verify patient information, including insurance details, medical history, and contact data, while maintaining strict confidentiality.
- Answer incoming phone calls promptly, addressing inquiries and directing calls to appropriate staff members.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR) with accuracy, ensuring all patient data is current and properly documented.
- Assist with billing procedures, including verifying insurance coverage and processing payments when necessary.
- Support medical staff by preparing necessary documentation, managing correspondence, and handling administrative tasks efficiently.
Requirements
- Proven experience working in a medical office or healthcare setting with familiarity in medical administrative support.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel for documentation and communication purposes.
- Knowledge of health regulation policies to ensure compliance with privacy laws like HIPAA.
- Experience with patient management software and electronic health records (EHR) systems such as EMR/EHR platforms.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly via phone and in person.
- Understanding of medical terminology and health insurance processes for accurate data entry and client communication.
- Excellent typing skills for efficient data entry and correspondence management.
- Prior dental or medical office experience is a plus, along with knowledge of health insurance policies.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality at all times while managing sensitive information effectively.
Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 32.0 per week
