What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ophthalmic Assistant / Medical Assistant position at Metro Eye Care?
Metro Eye Care is a comprehensive ophthalmology and optometry practice with several locations in Bergen County. We are looking for dedicated and hard- working individuals to learn and grow with the practice. You will work closely with patients and our team of physicians in all aspects of ophthalmic care, from cataract, glaucoma, and oculoplastic procedures/diagnostics and surgeries, to dry eye evaluations, glasses/contacts and routine eye exams.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Patient work-ups: Documenting patient medical history, medications, chief complaint, instilling eye drops, checking vision, checking eye pressure, etc.
- Performing diagnostic testing: Visual Fields, OCTs, Refractions, iCare, Corneal topography etc.
- Filling/Re-filling medications, following through with prior authorizations, etc.
- Assisting and scribing with providers
- Additional administrative work
This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week. All candidates MUST be flexible in their weekly work schedule, have the availability to work in our Fort Lee and Paramus offices, be ready to work in a fast-paced environment, have a strong work ethic and be the best team player. Saturday hours are required, one to two Satrudays per month.
Prior experience in an ophthalmology or optometry setting and familiarity with EHR system are strongly recommended, but we are willing to train the right person with a great work ethic.

Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour
