RESIDENTIAL BUILDING INSPECTOR (1099 CONTRACTOR)
Metro Code is a Plan Review & Inspection Company seeking an experienced Residential Combination Building Inspector (Independent Contractor) to perform residential inspections on an as-needed basis. Most inspections will take place in Anna, Texas and surrounding areas.
The contractor will be responsible for inspecting residential construction projects for compliance with applicable local and state codes, ordinances, regulations, and approved plans. We are looking for an individual who is self-motivated, dependable, and able to work independently while maintaining strong professional relationships with clients and municipalities.
Scope of Work / Responsibilities
- Perform residential building inspections for compliance with applicable building codes and local amendments
- Conduct plumbing inspections and verify compliance with applicable codes
- Interpret complex building codes and communicate requirements clearly to contractors and clients
- Prepare inspection reports and written correspondence for clients and municipalities
- Identify and communicate correction items and assist in resolving code compliance issues
- Respond to client questions regarding inspections and applicable code requirements
- Manage multiple inspection assignments efficiently while maintaining accurate documentation
Minimum Qualifications
- ICC Residential Building Inspector Certification (required)
- ICC Residential Plumbing Inspector Certification (required)
- Working knowledge of ICC codes and applicable regulations
- 1–2 years of experience performing inspections or plan reviews with a private entity or municipality
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Strong communication, organization, and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and maintain professional relationships with clients and municipalities
Preferred Certifications
Additional certifications are a plus, including:
- ICC Residential Mechanical Inspector Certification
- ICC Residential Electrical Inspector Certification
- ICC Residential Energy Inspector Certification
- Texas State Plumbing Board License
Compensation
This is a 1099 independent contractor position.
Compensation will be paid per inspection, with rates determined based on inspection type and qualifications.
Contractors are responsible for their own taxes, insurance, equipment, and transportation.
Work Structure
