Metric5 is seeking a highly experienced Senior DevSecOps Engineer to support the Cache team, leading efforts to design, automate, secure, and optimize mission-critical cloud infrastructure in AWS GovCloud. The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and security automation, with a proven track record of enabling secure and scalable solutions in compliance-driven environments.
This is a hands-on engineering role requiring on-site presence five days per week at the client location in Washington, DC.

The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and security automation, with a proven track record of enabling secure and scalable solutions in compliance-driven environments.
This is a hands-on engineering role requiring on-site presence five days per week at the client location in Washington, DC.
Responsibilities
Architecture, Automation, and CI/CD Leadership
- Design and Implement CI/CD Pipelines: Lead the design, development, and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI) to automate and accelerate application delivery, testing, and deployment into secure AWS environments.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Architect, build, and manage scalable and resilient infrastructure using IaC tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
- AWS GovCloud Engineering: Design and maintain secure, compliant, and highly available systems in AWS GovCloud, ensuring adherence to FedRAMP and agency-specific security requirements.
- Containerization & Serverless: Develop and manage containerized and serverless solutions using AWS Fargate, Lambda, and related services.
- System Optimization: Continuously monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize application performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
- DevSecOps Integration: Embed security controls, vulnerability scanning, and compliance automation directly into CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure provisioning processes.
- Access Control and Monitoring: Implement and manage robust IAM policies, auditing mechanisms, and security posture assessments across environments.
- Compliance Adherence: Enforce FedRAMP and organizational security policies, ensuring full compliance of deployed infrastructure.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Partner with development, cybersecurity, and operations teams to align DevSecOps strategies with mission goals.
- Technical Leadership: Provide mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of automation, continuous improvement, and security-first development.
- Incident Response: Lead root cause analyses and implement preventive measures to strengthen reliability and operational resilience.
- 10 years of DevOps or DevSecOps engineering experience with a focus on AWS services, CI/CD, and automation
- Expertise in AWS GovCloud and services such as Lambda, CloudFormation, Fargate, RDS, and ElastiCache
- Hands-on experience implementing FedRAMP-aligned or equivalent compliance frameworks
- Proficiency with Terraform or CloudFormation for IaC
- Strong scripting skills in Python, Java, or JavaScript/TypeScript
- Proven experience integrating security automation into DevOps processes
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to lead complex technical initiatives and manage competing priorities
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Preferred Certification: AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional
Salary: $150,000 - $160,000 Annually
