Transportation Engineer (Mid-Level) – Roadway/Highway Design | PA/NJ Region
A multidisciplinary engineering consultancy with a strong presence across the Northeast is seeking a Transportation Engineer to support the delivery of roadway and infrastructure projects across multiple office locations in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. This role provides the opportunity to work on a wide range of transportation projects, contributing to design, analysis, and project delivery while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Purpose
- Support the execution of transportation engineering assignments across planning, design, and delivery phases
- Contribute to the development of solutions that improve mobility, safety, and overall infrastructure performance
- Assist in delivering projects that support community growth and multimodal transportation initiatives
Responsibilities
Leadership and Direction
- Work with general guidance on project objectives, applying engineering judgment to complete assignments
- Review work for quality and support coordination across project teams
- Provide technical input, mentorship, and guidance to less experienced staff as needed
Project & Team Support
- Collaborate with senior staff on transportation and infrastructure-related work
- Support coordination across internal teams and external stakeholders
- Assist with business development efforts and maintaining client relationships
Technical Delivery
- Contribute to transportation project work including design, analysis, and documentation
- Prepare engineering plans, reports, and supporting calculations
- Assist with data collection, field reviews, and research of best practices
- Support development of cost estimates, schedules, and permitting documentation
- Participate in construction-phase support activities as required
- Prepare project-related documentation including memos, reports, and presentations
- Coordinate field visits and ensure accurate data collection
- Monitor assigned tasks to ensure quality and adherence to timelines
- Support preparation of proposals and technical submissions
- Participate in meetings with clients, agencies, and stakeholders
- Assist with QA/QC reviews and maintain organized project documentation
- Support and mentor junior staff where appropriate

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- Several years of experience in transportation or roadway engineering
- Progress toward or completion of engineering certification/licensure preferred
- Experience supporting roadway or traffic-related design projects
- Familiarity with engineering design software and standard office tools
- Understanding of transportation-related design standards and permitting processes
- Valid driver’s license or ability to travel to project sites as needed
Salary : $90,000 - $120,000
