Forensic Mechanical Engineer
Location: Houston
Full-Time | Hybrid
A confidential consulting firm is seeking a Forensic Mechanical Engineer to carry out evaluations of building systems, equipment performance, and causation analysis across a range of commercial and industrial properties. This role involves both technical engineering work and investigation-based consulting, with exposure to insurance, legal, and owner-side clients.
Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site assessments of building mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
- Diagnose failure mechanisms and system performance issues
- Produce written findings, technical opinions, and repair recommendations
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders on project deliverables
- Oversee small to mid-sized assignments independently with limited oversight
- Support client relationships and repeat work opportunities
Qualifications
- PE license required (or ability to obtain via reciprocity)
- 7 years of MEP engineering experience
- Design domain knowledge
- Experience in troubleshooting, diagnostics, system evaluations, or claims-related work
- Strong analytical and report-writing ability
- Comfortable working independently in the field as well as in a consulting setting
- Master’s degree in engineering preferred
