Construction Inspector – Transportation Projects
Tampa, FL | 5 Years’ Experience
A fast-growing transportation consultancy is looking for a Construction Inspector to support roadway and mobility projects across Florida. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in the field, enjoys collaborating with contractors and engineers, and wants to play a hands-on role in building safe and reliable infrastructure.
What You’ll Do
- Perform daily field inspections on roadway, traffic signal, striping, signage, and pedestrian facility projects
- Verify compliance with plans, specifications, and agency standards (FDOT, MUTCD, local DOTs)
- Monitor contractor progress, track quantities, and prepare documentation for pay applications
- Review RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and change orders
- Coordinate with contractors, design engineers, utility providers, and public agencies to resolve field issues
- Support punch lists, final inspections, and project closeout documentation
- Maintain accurate, organized, and timely field records
What We’re Looking For
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred)
- 5 years of experience in construction inspection (transportation projects a plus)
- Familiarity with FDOT and MUTCD standards
- Experience with field documentation and tools (SiteManager, Bluebeam, e-Construction, etc.)
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and reporting skills
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites
