Senior MEP Project Manager | Data Center Construction | Cedar Rapids, IA (Travelling)

Partnered with a ENR general contractor on an opportunity for an experienced MEP Project Manager to take ownership of the Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Fire Protection scope across major construction projects.
This is an opportunity for an experienced MEP professional to step into a highly visible position, working directly with subcontractors, owners, design teams, VDC/BIM teams, superintendents, commissioning agents and AHJs to deliver complex projects from preconstruction through final turnover.
The Role
You will be responsible for the overall coordination, management and delivery of the MEP/FP scope throughout the project lifecycle.
Key responsibilities include:
• Review mechanical bid tabs, contract exhibits and subcontractor scopes
• Interview, select and manage MEP subcontractors
• Oversee day-to-day MEP subcontractor performance
• Review and approve monthly requisitions and change orders
• Conduct regular site walks and monitor progress against schedule
• Coordinate closely with BIM/VDC teams and site Superintendents
• Work with A/E teams to resolve design and coordination issues
• Review and manage MEP submittals
• Oversee inspections, testing, commissioning and life-safety requirements
• Coordinate MEP/FP contractors, commissioning agents and third-party testing agencies
• Manage equipment delivery schedules and long-lead procurement
• Coordinate multi-trade interfaces across the project
• Attend owner, subcontractor, coordination and field meetings
• Work with AHJs and public utility providers to ensure project requirements are met
• Manage MEP punch lists, closeout documentation, as-builts, O&Ms and attic stock
• Coordinate owner training and project turnover
• Support retail and/or tenant fit-out requirements where applicable
The ideal candidate needs to have:
• 10 years of experience working with MEP/FP systems
• 5 years of MEP project management experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Engineering, HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection or a related technical discipline
• Prior experience working for a General Contractor in Data Center Construction
• Strong understanding of construction drawings and specifications
• Previous experience working for a General Contractor in Data Center construction.
• Advanced knowledge of BIM/VDC coordination and clash detection software
• Strong understanding of applicable local, state and international building codes
• Knowledge of ASHRAE, NEC, NFPA and LEED requirements
• Experience with testing, balancing and commissioning processes
• Strong understanding of MEP trade coordination and construction sequencing
• Excellent communication and decision-making skills
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
