The Opportunity
The IDI Claims Assistant is responsible for supporting the Individual Disability Income (IDI) claims process by facilitating timely communication, gathering claim information, managing pre-proof-of-loss activities, and completing administrative claim tasks across the United States.

This role contributes to a seamless customer experience by proactively following up with insureds and their representatives, maintaining accurate claim documentation, and supporting Claims Specialists in delivering timely and efficient claim outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead timely follow-up efforts for assigned pending IDI claims from initial notice through receipt of proof of loss, ensuring activities align with service standards and support efficient claim progression.
- Create clear, professional, and primarily templated correspondence for insureds, providers, employers, attorneys, and other claim stakeholders in alignment with company standards.
- Oversee accurate claim activity documentation, customer interaction records, and follow-up notes to maintain organized claim files and support informed claim handling.
- Manage daily workload, claim system activities, aging requirements, and assigned administrative tasks to help ensure timely completion of claim-related responsibilities.
- Develop strong working knowledge of IDI claim processes, stable block maintenance activities, and file-management practices to support Claims Specialists and management needs.
- Coordinate communication with insureds, authorized representatives, and internal partners to obtain outstanding information, provide claim status updates, and support administrative research requests or special projects.
- High school diploma required to support accurate claim documentation, professional correspondence, and administrative claim activities in a business environment.
- Experience using claim systems, Microsoft Office, or related business tools to manage workload, document customer interactions, track follow-up activities, and maintain organized claim files.
- Strong communication, customer service, organizational, and time-management skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on available facts.
- Detail-oriented, dependable, and professional approach with a commitment to supporting customers, internal partners, and timely claim outcomes.
- Suggested 3 to 5 years of experience in disability claims, insurance operations, customer service, or related professional business support.
- Experience using claim systems, Microsoft Office, or related business platforms to support claim file maintenance, workload tracking, correspondence, and administrative follow-up.
- Customer-focused, organized, and collaborative work style with the ability to manage priorities, communicate professionally, and support timely claim outcomes.
- Adaptable, dependable, and detail-oriented approach with a willingness to learn IDI claims processes and contribute to a positive customer and team experience.
