Absence Management Claim Specialist
Job Location
Virtual within a commutable distance of Oriskany / Central New York. New Hires must live within a commutable distance of Oriskany / Central NY.
Training
IN-PERSON TRAINING for up to 4 weeks, Monday through Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30 PM.
Key Responsibilities:
- Virtual roles work from a home office with periodic visits to the assigned GCSO office as needed for team events, meetings, training, business continuity, etc.
- Handle, review, and administer Family & Medical Leave Act / and or Americans with Disabilities Act(ADA) claims and adhere to federal and state regulatory and/or company plan requirements. Establish FMLA/ADA workflow procedures and evaluate against appropriate leave plans and make initial claim decisions.
- Complete eligibility decisions during intake call, gather pertinent data when necessary, from employee or other supporting systems as well as perform leave-ups as required, including recertification of health condition, intermittent claim tracking, RTW confirmation, etc.
- Update systems to accurately reflect leave status and ensure appropriate diary documentation exists.
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
Required:
- New hires should live a commutable distance from the site the role is posted in.
- 1 years of experience in insurance claims (health, life, auto, home, etc.).
- Strong focus on customer satisfaction and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- This role has mandatory paid training starting on May 4th lasting for up to 4 weeks. Candidates must be available and present for all training day
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher education.
- FMLA/ADA claims knowledge of process and procedures.
- Demonstrated critical thinking in activities requiring analysis, investigation, and/or planning.

Salary : $45,500 - $48,000
