What are the responsibilities and job description for the ECC Support Specialist position at Methuen Public School District?
- Licensed by the Board of Allied Mental Health and Human Services Professions as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and Applied Behavior Analyst.
- Master’s degree in a related field preferred
- Massachusetts license from the appropriate state licensing board, if appropriate
- Experience in and/or expertise in early childhood, including programming and staff training.
- Experience and knowledge of providing behavioral interventions and assessments, including expertise in creating and managing a behavioral system, behavioral intervention plans, and functional behavioral assessments
- Strong understanding of ABA principles, positive behavior supports, and data collection systems.
- Ability to work with students having a variety of challenges, and to collaborate with staff working directly with students in the program
- Outstanding preparation and/or experience may be substituted for some of the above qualifications.
- Assist with arrival, dismissal, and transitions.
- Respond to behavior/regulation needs.
- Regularly consult with teachers.
- Model for teachers and program assistants.
- Assist staff with the development of visual supports, token systems, schedules, and reinforcement tools to increase student engagement and independence.
- Assist with the implementation of ACE programming, ensuring data-driven decision-making and accurate progress monitoring.
- Provide behavioral assessments, interventions, and teacher consultations for students identified with, or suspected of, having behavioral challenges
- Coordinate the creation and management of behavioral intervention plans and functional behavioral assessments for identified students
- Provide training, professional development, and in-class coaching for the staff in data collection, behavior management, reinforcement systems, de-escalation, and behavior plans.
- Conduct observations and collect data to assess the effectiveness of interventions.
- Participate in IEP meetings as needed to share data and recommendations regarding student progress and behavioral supports.
- Work in coordination with building administrators, teachers, and parents.
- Experience working in early childhood or preschool settings preferred.
