What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bilingual Parent Liaison position at Methuen High School?
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Fluent speaker of English and Spanish
- Competent English and Spanish literacy skills
- Must be able to relate positively with others, as evidenced by evaluations and/or references
- Commendable prior work performance, as evidenced by evaluations and/or references
- Reliable, flexible, organized
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Translate written documents as needed
- Make/take phone calls to/from Spanish-speaking families as needed by school personnel
- Interpret during a variety of school meetings
- Develop and maintain constructive and trusting relationships with families and staff
- Represent the school professionally and courteously
- Assist in the development of, and attend parent informational workshops
- Contact families on a daily basis about outstanding school lunch balances
- Regularly utilize district Google scheduling calendar for all meetings, appointments, personal days, etc.
- Interpret at out-of-district IEP/Special Education meetings on a rotating basis with other liaisons
- Translate district-wide department paperwork on a rotating basis with other liaisons
- Attend and interpret at minimum 3 district-wide afternoon or evening events throughout the school year, at the request of building principal or any Central Office administrator
- Work two days in August in Family Resource Center one week prior to the start of school
- 6.5 hour work day including 30 minute duty-free lunch
- Other responsibilities as assigned by Principal/LAD Director
- This position is jointly supervised and evaluated by Supervising Principal and Language Acquisition Department Director
SPECIFICS: Annual appointment - 183 work days - This position is unaffiliated.
SALARY: $23,816 annual
