Must maintain Basic Life Safety (BLS) certification.
Must maintain Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
Must maintain Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
Texas state license
Registered Respiratory Therapist by the National Board of Respiratory Care required.
Minimum five years in an acute care setting.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for the safe and effective administration of medically prescribed medications, knowing their indications and contraindictations.
- Knows and follows the indications and contraindications, the policy, and procedures in administering therapeutic modalities to include: HHN and lung expansion therapy.
- Sets up and monitors oxygen administration.
- Sets up oxygen cylinders and assures proper usage and safety measures are in place.
- Performs arterial punctures using radial and brachial sites independently. Draws off arterial lines to obtain sample for blood gas analysis.
- Performs all aspects of artificial airway care. Able to perform deep blind tracheal suctioning on patients.
- Responsible for the administration of all types of mechanical ventilation including BiPap and CPAP.
- Familiar with oxygen delivery systems (i.e., nasal, venuturi mask).
- Familiar with measuring devices to include, but not limited to, pulse oximeter, respirometer, ETCO2.
- Responsible for the set-up, safety check, monitoring, and troubleshooting of mechanical ventilators.
- Maintains accurate and legible records, documenting clinical notes in EMR and complete documentation of all patient charges.

- While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to sit, converse, and listen; use hands to touch, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and to reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- The employee must be able to lift and/or carry over 20 pounds on a regular basis and be able to push/pull over 25 pounds on a regular basis.
- The employee must be able to stand and/or walk at least five hours per day.
