What You Will Do
- Performs all job responsibilities of the Specimen Processor, Telephone Support Representative, and Transporter.
- Assists in monitoring the daily work flow in the Specimen area. Investigates and reviews QA problems and complaints with Associates. Processes specimen referrals and releases referral reports. Assists in the professional development of others through guidance and teaching.
- Demonstrates initiative in identifying opportunities for self-development.
- Performs other job functions as assigned or requested.
- Required - High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Required - Specimen Processor 1-3 years
- Knowledge of medical terminology and specimen requirements.
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations as would be acquired through completion of high school.
- Ability to read and follow written instructions as would be acquired through completion of high school.
- Ability to type at 30 words per minute.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment.
- Demonstrated leadership potential.
- Ability to work without close supervision and to exercise independent judgment.
- Ability to communicate verbally with Associates, physicians, and physicians’ staff.
- This job is a lead job: the incumbent will provide guidance and assistance to other Associates in the absence of the supervisor or Specimen Processing Coordinator.
- The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
- Must have good balance and coordination.
- The physical requirements of this position are: light work - exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently.
- The Associate is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
- The conditions to which the Associate will be subject in this position: The Associate is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions; job functions are typically performed under conditions such as those found in general office or administrative work.
