Overview
Under supervision, to perform work involving the safe, timely and accurate transport of patients, medical equipment and patient-related items to their destinations enabling physicians, nurses, technicians, and therapists to perform their duties in an effective manner. Ensures positive patient, customer and associate satisfaction, proper utilization of body mechanics, adherence to policies and procedures, and standards established by Hospital departmental and regulatory agencies.Responsibilities

- Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to interact and communicate with patients and a wide range of staff and hospital personnel in a courteous and professional manner.
- Effective verbal and listening communication skills.
- Ability to utilize various pieces of transport equipment such as wheelchairs, stretchers and beds.
- Ability to operate under potentially stressful or emergency situations.
- Ability to solve problems.
- Ability to follow directions and to provide excellent judgment in order to assess potentially unsafe conditions for both patients and self.
- Must provide courtesy in dealing with patients, visitors and staff.
- High School Diploma/GED Equivalent Required
- Transport or hospital experience preferred.
- Certified Basic Life Support
