Job Summary And Qualifications
The scheduler is responsible for the accurate scheduling of surgical and other procedures in the various surgical and procedural areas.
What you will do in this role:
In addition to transplant care, Methodist Hospital Specialty and Transplant is a full service hospital with over 260 beds that provides specialized services for liver cancer care, emergency care, weight loss surgery, urology surgery, vascular surgery, inpatient rehabilitation, colorectal surgery and behavioral health care. It is a designated Center of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Excellence by the American Society for Bariatric Surgery. Our Sexual Assault Response Team provides a compassionate environment for sexual assault survivors ages 13 , serving as a model for hospitals and agencies all over the world. Job Summary And Qualifications
The scheduler is responsible for the accurate scheduling of surgical and other procedures in the various surgical and procedural areas.
What you will do in this role:
- Coordinates the scheduling of procedures with physicians, physician offices, and anesthesiologists according to established scheduling guidelines.
- Ensures that necessary equipment is available for all scheduled procedures.
- Communicates additions, cancellations and special requests of schedule to all appropriate parties.
- Collects patient demographic and insurance data at time of procedure scheduling.
- Utilizes the computerized scheduling system and supports updates as available.
- Serves as preceptor to new employees.
- Education: High School Graduate or GED.
- Secretarial, computer and clerical skills acquired through formal education and training also preferred.
- Experience: Six months experience in office functions acquired through hospital or medical office work preferred. Ability to utilize basic office equipment, including computer terminals.
- Minimum License, Certificates, or Registrations Required: None
