Cardiology Hospitalist Advanced Practice Provider (APP) – Nocturnist

Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas, is seeking a dedicated Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join its growing Cardiology Hospitalist team in a nocturnist role. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic, high-acuity environment alongside a collaborative and experienced cardiovascular team.

Position Overview

The Cardiology Hospitalist APP – Nocturnist will provide comprehensive overnight inpatient cardiovascular care, supporting cardiologists and ensuring continuity of care for hospitalized patients with complex cardiac conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide overnight inpatient cardiology coverage, including evaluation and management of acute cardiac conditions
• Respond to new consults, admissions, and cross-cover needs
• Manage cardiac patients in collaboration with attending cardiologists and interdisciplinary care teams
• Interpret diagnostic studies, including ECGs and basic cardiac imaging
• Participate in rapid response and code situations as needed
• Ensure timely documentation and effective communication during handoffs
• Support quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
• Nocturnist schedule (e.g., 7-on/7-off or similar block schedule)
• Coverage primarily during overnight hours
  
  

Qualifications

• Nurse Practitioner (ACNP or AGACNP preferred) or Physician Assistant
• Board certified and eligible for Texas licensure
• Prior cardiology or acute care/hospitalist experience preferred
• Strong clinical decision-making skills and ability to work independently overnight
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
