Job Purpose
The Digital & AI Technical Architect (Complementary Worker) will design and deliver hands-on solution architectures across the client's Digital & AI landscape, with a focus on pharma commercial domains including digital marketing and market access. The role applies modern AI and agentic technologies to create scalable, compliant, and secure solutions that accelerate customer engagement, omnichannel execution, and access outcomes, partnering closely with business, Tech, Data, and Enterprise Architecture teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and maintain end-to-end solution architectures for Digital & AI use cases in Commercial (digital marketing, omnichannel, field, payer/market access), aligned to Enterprise Architecture and Tech standards.
- Lead hands-on solution design using GenAI and agentic tech stacks (e.g. LLM platforms, Retrieval-Augmented Generation, orchestration frameworks, AI agents/workflows), including integration patterns, data flows, security, and observability.
- Translate business requirements from Commercial, Digital Marketing, and Market Access stakeholders into technology blueprints, sequence diagrams, and API/data contracts, ensuring reuse of core platforms and services.
- Work directly with product teams and engineers to prototype, harden, and scale AI solutions, providing technical leadership on architecture choices, design reviews, and non-functional requirements (performance, resilience, cost).
- Ensure solutions adhere to client standards for Responsible AI, data privacy, GxP/non-GxP controls, and information security, partnering with Risk, Compliance, and Security as needed.
- Architect integration between AI/agentic services and commercial platforms (CRM, customer data platforms, marketing automation, consent/identity, payer data, pricing & contracting, analytics).
- Define and maintain reference architectures, patterns, and reusable components for Digital & AI in Commercial, contributing to roadmaps and standards within CTED and Enterprise Architecture.
- Provide technical guidance to delivery teams and suppliers (including other complementary workers), ensuring architecture conformance, documentation, and effective handover into run/support.
- Support portfolio and demand shaping by assessing feasibility, architectural impact, and effort for new Digital & AI initiatives in Commercial, including early-stage proofs of concept and pilots.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of AI and agentic stacks (tooling, platforms, MLOps/LLMOps) and share best practices, patterns, and learnings across Commercial Tech.
Scope of Accountability:
- Supports Commercial business units across key markets with Digital & AI solutions in digital marketing, omnichannel engagement, and market access.
- No direct line management responsibility (Complementary Worker).

Job-Related Experience:
- Minimum 8 years in technology roles (architecture, engineering, or technical lead), including hands-on solution design and delivery.
- Strong experience in pharma or life sciences commercial domain, covering at least two of: digital marketing/omnichannel, CRM/field, payer and market access, pricing & contracting, or commercial analytics.
- Proven track record designing and implementing AI-driven solutions (LLMs, GenAI, intelligent agents, automation) in complex, regulated enterprise environments.
Other Job-Related Skills / Background:
- Deep practical experience with AI and agentic tech stacks, for example:
Enterprise LLM platforms (e.g. Azure OpenAI or equivalent).
Retrieval-Augmented Generation architectures, vector stores, prompt orchestration.
Agentic workflows/orchestration frameworks (AI agents coordinating multi-step tasks).
- Strong architecture and engineering skills: microservices, APIs, event-driven designs, cloud-native architectures, data integration, and observability.
- Working knowledge of digital marketing and market access processes, including typical data flows (HCP/patient/payer data), consent and identity, and commercial KPIs.
- Familiarity with pharma compliance landscape (promotional review, data privacy, fair market value, access/reimbursement constraints) and ability to design solutions within these guardrails.
- Ability to produce clear architecture artefacts (solution diagrams, integration designs, threat models, decision records) and communicate them effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience working in agile product teams and with external partners/vendors, including complementary workers and matrixed organisations.
- Strong communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills; comfortable working with Commercial leadership, Product Owners, and Tech leads.
