Metglas, Inc., located in Conway, SC, is a world leading producer of Amorphous Metal Ribbon. Since our company began in the 1970’s, Metglas, Inc. (then Allied Signal located in Morristown, NJ) pioneered the development and production of amorphous metal, a unique alloy that exhibits a structure in which the metal atoms occur in a random pattern. The key to Metglas Inc.’s proprietary manufacturing process is the rapid-solidification of molten alloy at a rate of approximately one million degrees Celsius per second.
We are currently hiring full-time Material Handlers for our busy manufacturing plant. The Material Handler position is responsible for visually inspecting, packaging, and transporting amorphous metals from the production area into inventory. The position is also responsible for shipping, receiving, and warehousing raw materials and finished products.
Job Tasks:
- Use overhead crane and magnet to package amorphous metal spools in box, move to pallet, wrap, seal, and label
- Use forklift to transport packaged material to inventory, load & unload onto common carrier
- Re-work nonconforming materials, as needed
- Pull materials from inventory, package, print labels, and wrap products for shipment
- Enter product and shipping data into computer system for tracking
- Communicate with 3rd-party common carrier to schedule pick-up and delivery
- Walk to various areas of facility to observe charts, flow levels, and tank levels, and report data to shift supervisor
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Ability to read, understand, and follow directions
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers
- Basic computer skills: ability to enter, retrieve, and evaluate data
Education, Training, & Experience:
- High school graduate or equivalent required
- Prior industrial/mechanical experience preferred
- 2 years forklift experience required
- Must be able to work up to 12-hour shifts, and in a warm and hot indoor environment, especially during summer months
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check, including criminal
