What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manager of Quality Assurance & Compliance position at METGLAS INC?
Metglas, Inc., located in Conway, SC near Myrtle Beach, is a world leading producer of Amorphous Metal Ribbon. Since our company began in the 1970’s, Metglas, Inc. (then Allied Signal located in Morristown, NJ) pioneered the development and production of amorphous metal, a unique alloy that exhibits a structure in which the metal atoms occur in a random pattern. The key to Metglas Inc.’s proprietary manufacturing process is the rapid-solidification of molten alloy at a rate of approximately one million degrees Celsius per second.
We are currently seeking an experienced Manager of Quality Assurance & Compliance for our 24/7 busy metal manufacturing plant.
Responsibilities:
- Contribution for Metglas Safety and 5S policy.
- Lead to ensure credibility of ISO9001 registration and required sub-processes are in place for Metglas.
- Lead Internal Audit team, manage auditors and maintain audit schedule.
- Responsible for Metglas products (sample, production), quality release, key components, quality monitoring and compliance manner.
- Determine Metglas quality goal and review continuously. Then proactively facilitate related team to achieve the goal from technical and statistical quality control view.
- Responsible for Metglas quality control tools (QC division, equipment) release.
- Coordinates quality reports (any periodical reports and Japan-QA div.) summarizing status of products and processes to monitor.
- Conducts ITAR training and process overview with all employees.
- Responsible to review and/or approve contract and quality related documents (GOA, Agreements, PPAP, 8D report, supplier’s review, etc.) prepared and pre-reviewed by Product Development and Engineering (PD&E) team and/or Sales/Operation team to determine whether order requirements can be met.
- Facilitate internal and external quality related audit and those preparation.
- Interact with customers to understand process/product non-conformities and drive corrective/preventive action.
- Leads or support to develop employee’s knowledge for QC tools.
- Manage QA activity to optimize resources (equipment & people & reports) needed to support operations.
Key Success Factors:(Specific expectations during next 6 - 18 months):
- Improve effective QA function, simplify periodical reports, design review system (NPDS/CDRS) closely working with PD&E team.
- Manage ISO9001 external audit.
- Review and approve to implement BIS (H coil method) measurement which set up by PD&E team.
- Keep conducting all Compliance tasks as a Metglas window.
Attributes/Skills Required/Sought:
- Technical excellence – statistical, analytical, and computer skills and excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Customer focused and strong business skills with creative and innovative thinker.
Experience/Education Required/Sought:
- BS Degree in engineering or related field, and multi-discipline experience preferred.
- Requires 3-5 years QA experience.

As a potential candidate for this position, you must be a “U.S. Person” (as defined under 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 and 15 C.F.R. § 772.1). The International Traffic in Arms Regulations (“ITAR”) and the Export Administration Regulations (“EAR”) are the primary export control regulations in the United States. The successful candidate will be required to show proof substantiating their status as a U.S. Person.
