The Apprentice Carpenter I is an entry-level team apprentice who assists skilled carpenters with basic construction tasks and site preparation. This position supports the team in completing complex construction activities and repairs of structural elements made from wood and a variety of other materials in a commercial setting.
This role emphasizes developing good work habits, understanding carpentry basics, and building foundational skills necessary for growth in the trade, while practicing strict adherence to a rigorous safety culture and OSHA standards through all phases of construction work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist skilled carpenters with the construction, installation, and repair of wooden and metal framework, walls, and fixtures.
- Support site preparation by organizing materials, cleaning work areas, and setting up tools and equipment.
- Measure, cut, and assemble building materials under supervision.
- Load and unload materials and assist in their proper storage and handling.
- Follow blueprints and detailed instructions as directed by supervisors or lead carpenters.
- Ensure all work areas remain clean, safe, and organized throughout the day.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and equipment safely under direct supervision.
- Participate in daily safety meetings and maintain compliance with OSHA standards.
- Learn and practice construction techniques, building methods, and carpentry skills through onthejob training.
- Support company safety initiatives and demonstrate commitment to a culture of safety and quality workmanship.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of carpentry or constructionrelated experience preferred; apprenticeship or training program participation a plus.
- Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
- Basic understanding of carpentry tools, materials, and methods.
- Ability to read and follow instructions, drawings, and safety procedures.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and eagerness to learn the trade.
- Ability to perform physical labor in outdoor and varied weather conditions.

- Must be able to travel to assigned project sites as required.
