ABOUT THIS JOB
Our client in beautiful Hudson, NY, is seeking a Mechanical Engineering and project management professional to lead manufacturing projects, including design, research, prototyping, engineering documentation, estimating, and process improvement. They will provide technical expertise and guidance on working with internal/external suppliers to support/improve manufacturing productivity and cost-effectiveness. They will lead through innovation and attention to detail, driving the project through to completion.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
• Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, schedule, and budget.
• Demonstrate knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics, along with the ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
• Select and manage contractors, subcontractors, and vendors for engineering and construction activities.
• Collaborate with leadership and internal stakeholder groups such as purchasing, estimating, customer service, and the shop team on design projects.
• Oversee bidding processes, negotiate contracts, and ensure adherence to project specifications.
• Monitor project expenses and ensure alignment with the budget without compromising project quality.
• Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
• Research new materials and equipment related to the manufacturing process.
• Organize and maintain existing and new engineering records.
• Document the design process and prepare design and detailed drawings.
• Conduct research and consider alternative approaches to improve product performance or to meet changing customer requirements.
• Determine soundness in terms of practical design configuration, manufacturability, and workability.
• Maintains contact with suppliers on engineering-related issues, i.e., material specifications.
• Directing suppliers to analyze their current or proposed product/process designs to determine the feasibility of using existing designs or modifying the designs to improve process and/or product
WHAT IS NEEDED FOR THIS ROLE
• Bachelor’s Degree or above in Mechanical Engineering
• Knowledge of the mold fabrication process is helpful
• Familiarity with plastic products and their applications or related manufacturing experience
• 5-7 years of progressive project engineering experience
• In-depth knowledge of SolidWorks or similar modeler software
• Material Flow • MRP/ERP Systems
• Excellent computer literacy (MS Office suite including MS Project) and knowledge of design and visualization software.
• The ability to work with multiple discipline projects.

• Strong analytical skills coupled with the ability to exercise sound judgment.
• Work efficiently without significant supervision.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arms and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear. Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and use fingers. Ability to pull, push, and lift objects. Ability to grasp and feel.
Salary : $80,000 - $110,000
